FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Down to which diameter does the BenderWire Group manufacture?

Within the group, from 0.011 mm to 15 mm (11 µm) — stainless fine wire, finer than a human hair. Production starts from wire rod and covers the entire chain.

What is fine wire?

Wire brought to the finest diameters through repeated cold drawing — down to 11 µm with us. The finer the dimension and the more special the grade, the higher the demands on process and cleanliness.

Which materials do you process?

The focus is on austenitic stainless steels (incl. 1.4301/304, 1.4404/316L, 1.4310 spring steel) as well as special and proprietary grades such as BenderWire 304NX (high-strength, triple re-melted, Rm ≥ 3700 MPa). In addition, nickel and nickel alloys as well as non-ferrous metals in the stock business.

Do you supply samples and small quantities?

Yes. From the first sample to stable series delivery — production to customer specification is the norm, not the exception.

How fast can you deliver?

For cold heading and bending wire, average lead time is around 3 weeks (minimum quantity 700 kg). This is based on a wire stock of ~2,500 t and free sourcing — available, not just ordered.

Is the wire traceable?

Yes, through documented batches. The alloy is checked at three points before shipment — so mixed materials cannot leave the plant.

Are you certified?

Production operates according to ISO 9001; energy management is certified to ISO 50001. Certificates are available in the downloads area.

Is stainless steel recyclable?

Infinitely, without loss of quality. Our stainless steels are produced exclusively electrically — the greener the power, the greener the steel. More in the article “Why steel is the most circular material in the world”.

Do you also manufacture medical wire?

Yes — fine wire for catheters, surgical instruments and dental technology, from approx. 0.020 mm. Details in the article “Wire in medical technology”.
